Year 1936
Memoir Earl Walter Major, graduate in 1936, my father-in-law would often at family gatherings bring out his Fremont year book. He was very proud of it. Earl did not go on to college but, became trained as a fireman.

Earl died this month after sleeping for a week. Following is brief history:

Earl Walter Major has passed away, March 8, 2007. The funeral is Wednesday March 14th. Earl was born in Los Angeles 88 years ago and was the oldest of 8 children; four survive him. Earl graduated Fremont high school in L.A. and later became a L.A. County Fireman from 1942 to 1973 as an Engineer; he drove and maintained the fire engine. After retirement he worked many more years as a fireman on the sets while movies were being filmed.

Earl and his wife Dot were married 54 years before her passing in 1998. Son Pete and daughter Duanna, 5 grandchildren, and 5 great-granddaughters survive them. One Grandson is a fireman in Downey.

Earl loved to camp, drive, find license plates that were derivatives of nine, to do cross word puzzles, tell 'corny' jokes, play solitaire, enjoy Dot's wonderful cookies, tend his beautiful garden, and study the Bible. He also served as a Boy Scout leader, baseball coach, and church Deacon.

Earl will be placed to rest next to Dot on a grassy hill in Glendale, CA.
