Memoir
This would be my final year at Fremont and we would have probably the best basketball team in the school's history. Fremont won the City Championship and went on to play the state championship against Oakland St. Joseph's High School, which featured a well known point guard (he was already considered a phenom at the time) by the name of Jason Kidd. I could not get tickets to the game but managed to watch it on Cable TV and I watched how Kidd singe-handedly handed us one of the few losses of the season. As you must well know, Kidd went on to star at Cal for two years from 92-94 and then jumped at the chance to sign with the Dallas Mavericks in 1994. Every time I have watched Jason Kidd on for almost 15 years, I can't help but to think of that game that could have made us state champs!
What a team we had (Chris Ford, Michael Tate, Todd Whitehead, etc.). Funny thing is, I just found out that Fremont's then coach, Sam Sullivan, is still coaching the Pathfinders today.
