Wrestling
John C. Fremont has one of the most historic wrestling programs in the city of Los Angeles. The perpetual trophy given to the LA City Wrestling Team Champion is named after the long-time Fremont Coach, Buddy Burns. The Fremont wrestling team stopped competing after the 1991 season when Coach Buddy Burns lost his battle with cancer. Wrestling did not return to Fremont until 2010, but with Coache Jose Alvarenga at the helm, Fremont has, once again, become a hot bed of wrestling in South Los Angeles.
Fremont is a perennial contender in the Coliseum League, and 2021 was looking bright for Fremont Wrestling with City Finalist Joy Medina and State Qualifier Miyah Cleveland returning for their Senior Season.
Who's to say who will be our next Olympian? Could it be you? We will have to wait and see.
